Leola (Jackson) Nealey, known to her family and friends as "Mu," passed away at her home on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, in Madisonville. A celebration of Leola's life is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, with the burial to follow at Midway Southside Cemetery in Midway. The viewing is scheduled for 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at Day Funeral Home Chapel.
Leola was born on March 6, 1932, in Midway, to John and Lillie Bell (Franklin) Jackson. She attended Midway School, was baptized at Antioch Church of Christ, was a housewife, was the housekeeper for Charles and MaryLou Bristow, and worked for Madisonville Independent School District.
Leola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Genord Nealey; her children, Henry Lee Nealey, Anthony Wayne Nealey, Johnny Ray Nealey and Mattie Lee Nealey; and four grandchildren.
Leola is survived by her children, D.C. Nealey (Joyce), Bobby Nealey (Dyana), Lamar Nealey (Susan), David Nealey (Sonia), Mary Curtis, Bettie Jackson, Odessa Walker (Thomas), Minnie Moore (Allen), Linda Kendrick (Anthony), Barbara Holmes (Frankie), Tracy Bromley (Sherman Jr.), Cheryl Nealey and Johnnie Merchant; 38 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Odessa "Jane" Jackson; her brother-in-law, Spencer "Sonny" Nealey; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Lillian McGilbra, Velma Bradley, Lovie Ravnell, and Charles and MaryLou Bristow; and special cousin, R.L. Franklin.
