Linda Martin, 62, of Madisonville, passed away Sept. 3, 2018, in Bryan. A celebration of her life was held Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville. The Rev. Munroe Rice officiated the service.
Linda Mae (Duke) Martin was born Sept. 21, 1955, in Ellis County, to Joel Samuel and Lonnie Mae (Wilson) Duke. She worked as a landman in the oil industry and had lived in several places throughout her life including California, Houston, Grandbury, Floresville, Pecos, Midland, Odessa and Madisonville. Linda loved the water and going out on her boat. She also enjoyed reading, karaoke and her chihuahuas. Linda had a handful of very dear friends that meant the world to her. She had attended the Cross Baptist Church.
Linda was preceded in death by husband, Allen Martin, and father, Joel Samuel Duke. Survivors include her mother, Lonnie Thomas of Madisonville; her brothers, Joel Ray Duke (Myra) of Bryan, Henry Duke (Bobbie) of Madisonville and James Duke (Kim) of Huntsville; a sister, Brenda Brown (Todd) of Bryan; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Linda is also survived by her beloved chihuahuas, Lila and Sassy.
