Madisonville Little League held a clinic with multiple coaches for youth in the community at Lake Madison Park Saturday to raise interest in their softball program. The clinic consisted of drills centered around the fundamentals of the game as well as scrimmaging.

“We are just trying to encourage the girls and get them to learn some things,” said Stephanee Garrett, a member of the Madisonville Little League Board who was responsible for organizing the clinic. “We want them to love being out here and build up some confidence and hopefully build back up the program.”

Interest in softball has already seen growth as the league is up to three teams this season, an upgrade from a year ago. They have also been working on growing their t-ball program.

“Seeing the community come together and teach our girls is truly amazing,” said Garrett.

The league would like to offer a special thanks to Randy and Kendall Campbell, Jose and Sara Nacianceno, James Stanton, Tiffany Hickman and Sonnye Knight for assisting with the clinic Saturday.
