Madison County Retired School Personnel participated in the Texas State Retired Teachers Book Project last week by contributing 337 new books to Madisonville and North Zulch Kindergarten and pre-K classes.
“At the state level, 135,659 books were given to elementary students at the state level,” said Tammy Gilbert, Vice President of the Madison County Retired School Personnel Association and the project’s leader. “It’s always so exciting for the local unit to be involved in such a worthy project.”
A goal of 150,000 books for the state has been set for the 2018-19 school year.
The local Madisonville pre-K classes that received books were those of Miranda Butts, Toni Campbell, Amanda Carter, Katherine Cole, Gail Coffman and Susan Resendiz. The Kindergarten classes were those of Brittany Allen, Susan Allen, Linda Cousins, Alissa Lewandowski, Jessica Pasket, Lindi Pesl, Sara Smith, Lauren Todd and Linda Vinson.
North Zulch classes that received books were those of pre-K teacher Cassie McCreary and Kindergarten teachers Andrea Nelson and Brittany Owen.
