Madison County AgriLife Extension will host its annual five-hour continuing education Pesticide Applicator Recertification Program Jan. 17 at the Madison County Fair Grounds. Registration for the program will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the program at 8 a.m.

Licensed private applicators are required to recertify every five years by obtaining 15 continuing education credits, including two credits in laws and regulations and two credits in integrated pest management prior to expiration of the license.

The Madison County program will offer one credit for laws and regulations and two for integrated pest management.

Topics at the Madison County program will include laws and regulations, aquatic plant identification and effective control, forage pests: stem maggots, grasshoppers and army worms, and volatility of active ingredients. AgriLife Extension Specialists and a Corteva Agriscience Range Specialist will deliver the program.

Those wishing to attend the program can pre-pay and pre-register for $40 by Friday. After Friday, registration fees increase to $50.

Payment may be brought into or mailed to the Madison County AgriLife Extension Office (300 West School St.) with name, phone number, and Applicator License number included.
