The annual Madisonville Sidewalk Cattlemen’s Barbeque Cook-off is being held this Friday and Saturday, May 19-20th, at the American Legion / MSCA Grounds on Highway 75 in Madisonville, Texas.
The Kid’s Cook will begin on Friday night. The entry fee for each child is $10, and entry forms can be filled out at the event. The entry meat is a pork tenderloin chop, provided by MSCA, that the children will then prepare themselves. Prizes will be awarded for the winning entries.
On Saturday, the cook off will begin around 8 a.m., and continue into the evening. Categories include brisket, pork spare ribs and chicken. The entry fee is $160 for categories and electric. Trophies, ribbons and cash will be handed out to the winners. Trophy categories include Overall, Showmanship, Most Unique Pit, Best Decorated Area and Best Team Costumes.
Other contests being held during the cook off are Pinto Beans and Chili, Margaritas and Bloody Mary’s, Dessert, and an open category. Contest fees are $10 per entry.
