Visitation for Mary Jean Birch, 90, will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett.
Mrs. Birch passed away on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at the Fairfield Nursing and Rehab Center in Fairfield.
She was born in Texarkana on April 16, 1927. Mary Jean moved to Houston with her family as a teenager where she lived most of her life. She married William Wayne Birch on Feb. 18, 1947, and shared more than 62 years of marriage together until being separated by his death on Dec. 2, 2009. Mrs. Birch resided for several years in Normangee before moving to Oakwood before her husband’s death. She enjoyed growing flowers and studying genealogy, playing dominoes with friends, and attending First Baptist Church in Buffalo while her health permitted.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Williams and husband Kenneth of Buffalo; two grandsons, Paul Williams and wife Melanie and David Williams and wife Ana all of Houston; and two grandchildren, Trenton Williams and Ashleigh Cook.
Mrs. Birch was preceded in death by her husband, William Wayne Birch; and one brother, R. B. Campbell.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the Fairfield Nursing and Rehab and Solaris Hospice staffs for their excellent care for Mrs. Birch.
A private interment will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston.
