The Madisonville Mustang Bands hosted their 3rd Annual Market Day on Saturday at the Kimbro Center and raised around $2,000, the highest total the event has garnered since its inception.
“The booster club does an excellent job of organizing this event,” said Stephanie Schmidt, the district’s head band director. “Outside vendors come in and we have the floor marked off for them to set up. They get a free lunch and it is our job to bring in guests to shop.”
The 2019 event featured 20 vendors from local businesses as well as a silent auction to raise money for the band. The auction was sponsored by J&B Propane, Carter Enterprises and Jarrett’s Meat Services.
MCISD allowed the band to use a grill that was made by the Ag Mechanics classes and served sack lunches. The jazz band performed on the square after event, which lasted from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The band is already looking forward to 2020 and have plans to host the event for a fourth time.
