MCISD honored the Madisonville FFA teams that won championships or competed at the national level in 2017 at their monthly board meeting for April on Monday night.
The FFA teams honored with the resolutions were the Quiz, Marketing and Ag Issues teams. Quiz placed ninth in their national contest and Marketing placed second at the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis. The Ag Issues team recorded a runner up finish as well as first place in 2017.
“It’s amazing how talented and hardworking our students are,” said Madisonville CISD Superintendent Keith Smith. “This district and our programs like this one are so great at building leaders.”
The board waved fees on two pieces of struck off property purchased by the Cemetery Association of Madisonville. The Association also asked the city and county to wave the same penalty fees in order for the Cemetery to expand in the future.
The board also discussed a new approach to facility fees when dealing with local youth organizations. The use of MCISD’s facilities have been purchased to host certain UIL playoff events throughout the year.
“These fees are structured to cover these playoff events but aren’t really geared towards hosting youth sports,” said Smith.
The board approved a new, cheeper fee for facility use for games when dealing with youth teams in Madison County. In other business, the board:
approved minutes of the March 5, 2018 board meeting
approved Educational Purchasing Interlocal Cooperative Resolution from Region 6 (EPIC6)
