The Madisonville CISD School Board approved the new school calendar for the 2019-20 academic year on Monday, their first as a District of Innovation, during their monthly meeting for February.
The first day of instruction on the calendar will be August 19, opposed to the 27th to begin the current school year. The district also has a plan to continue sending their instructors to training at Capturing Kids’ Hearts. This will take place during the first week of August as well as a day before the second semester begins on Jan. 8, 2020.
Spring Break is scheduled for March 23 through the 27th, which is aligned with the Madison County Fair and a week after that of Texas A&M and Sam Houston State. The last day of instruction will take place on Thursday, May 21. Graduation is set for that evening.
MCISD officials also announced that they will begin work on Raney Lane, which runs through the campus and by the Elementary and Intermediate schools. The work is scheduled to start in the last two weeks of February and last through early March.
Also approved was an order of the general election for the MCISD Board, which is scheduled for May 4. Positions 5, 6 and 7 will be up for grabs and are currently held by Mark Bennett, Mike Corley and Zingara Manning.
Madison County Elections Administrator Earl Parker was again approved as the early voting clerk for the election.
