Both the men’s and women’s Madisonville cross country teams competed in the 2020 edition of the Brenham Hillacious Invitational Friday, their first action of the season under new head coach Travis Rasbeary.

“I think overall we did extremely well,” said Rasbeary. “There is a reason why they call it the ‘Hillacious Invitational’. Our runners worked extremely hard. We have a lot of young runners that showed up and showed out against athletes that have been doing this for years.”

Multiple Mustangs competed in the event and the men’s side earned the invitational’s Runner-Up award for their efforts.

Emmanuel Guevara placed fourth individually in the event. Other runners included Miguel Ardon (13th), Jacob Blakley (14th), Jesus Zavala (15th), Jose Garnica (24th), Diego Torres (28th), Cesar Martinez (29th), Benjamin Caperton (32nd) and Antonio Vazquez (35th).

Two runners competed for Madisonville on the women’s side. Te’liyah (Tootie) Matthews finished 14th while Angela Cardona finished 24th.
