MHS announces football ticket guidelines

The Madisonville CISD Athletic Department released ticket procedures for the 2020 MHS football season last week, which is set to begin in Diboll Aug. 28. The COVID-19 pandemic will eliminate season tickets and reserved tickets and limit the number of fans who can attend on a weekly basis.

MCISD Athletic Director Rusty Nail stated in an Aug. 11 email that Friday night varsity tickets will be on sale to MCISD employees and the parents of participating students, which includes football players, band members and cheerleaders.

“This group will be able to purchase tickets from me Monday through Wednesday of game week during school hours from my office,” said Nail in the email. “You may send the money with your student-athlete or contact me and I will let you in the front of the competition gym to my office to purchase.”

Nail can be reached via email at rnail@madisonvillecisd.org.

Tickets will then be on sale to the public for Friday’s matchup during Thursday’s non-varsity competitions taking place at MHS that particular week.

The final opportunity to purchase a ticket for the varsity contest will be from 7-8 a.m. in Nail’s office Friday morning.

“No tickets will be sold at the gate on Fridays, home or away,” said Nail. “Each week will have a different capacity and number to sell based on the venue seating availability, and I will let you know that weekly.”

Madisonville’s first game in Diboll Aug. 28 will allow for 500 Mustang fans to attend at 50% capacity. Tickets for the opener will be made available to staff and family of participating students Monday and to the general public at the junior varsity game Aug. 27 at MHS.

All tickets to junior high and junior varsity contests will be sold at the gate unless officials anticipate a capacity issue on a particular week.

“If capacity is pressed at a junior high game a certain week, we will ask those parents and fans whose Mustang has already played to please leave the stadium to allow for those wishing to see their student-athletes’ game to attend,” said Nail. “If there is no issue with capacity, all will be allowed to remain. Thanks in advance for understanding and complying.”

The MHS varsity home games during the 2020 season include Liberty (Sept. 4), Teague (Sept. 11), Livingston (Sept. 25), Shepherd (Oct. 9), Center (Oct. 23) and Jasper (Nov. 6). All contests are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Mustangs will also host a scrimmage against Cameron Thursday to benefit the THSCEF Benevolence Fund along with the Texas High School Coaches Association. Tickets for this event will be sold at the gate for $2 with all proceeds benefiting the fund.
