A homegoing service for Mozel Levels, 91, of Madisonville, Texas, was held 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville. The Rev. Edward Collins of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church officiated the service. A private interment will be held at a later date in the Culton Cemetery in Leona.
Mozel (Chambers) Levels was born Nov. 13, 1926, in Leona, to parents, Dug and Elnora (Brooks) Chambers. She was raised in Leona and attended Leona Public Schools.
Mozel met the love of her life, Jimmie Levels Sr., when she was only 10 years old and he, 16 years. They married five years later on June 15, 1942, and to this union, three children were born — Dorothy Ann, Jimmie Jr. and Gary David. In 1984, Jimmie opened a nursery and they grew the Jimmie Levels Nursery from a small shed in their backyard into the successful Madisonville Garden Center. She worked alongside her husband, and with their two sons, until her health began to fail.
Mozel was a faithful and active member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas and had been a resident of Madisonville since 1955, coming from Leona.
She entered into her heavenly home Sept. 2, 2018, in Madisonville. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Johnnie Levels Sr.; daughter, Dorothy A. Levels; and all of her siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons Jimmie Lee Jr. and Gary David Levels, both of Madisonville, and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church family.
