Mustangs drop two games


The Madisonville Mustangs basketball team dropped a pair of contests over the week to Aggieland HomeSchool at MHS and Navasota on the road.

Against Aggieland last Tuesday, the Mustangs got off to a decent start and led after a quarter of play. However, they surrendered 24 points to the Panthers in the second and another 20 in the third to fall behind. Aggieland took care of business in the final quarter for the 75-58 victory.

In Navasota, the Mustangs were outscored by 10 points in the final quarter to fall to the Rattlers by a score of 61-51.

Madisonville went back and forth with Navasota through the first three quarters, entering the fourth quarter tied. The Rattlers jumped in the fourth and were able to outscore the Mustangs 20-10.

After a road matchup in Sealy on Tuesday, Madisonville will travel to Connally on Friday to play Waco Connally.

After a break over Christmas, the Mustangs will host a holiday tournament at MHS from Dec. 27 through the 29th. District play will begin on Jan. 11 against Rusk at MHS.
