A number of Madisonville track athletes have advanced to Regionals after their top finishes during the Area meet on Wednesday in Palestine.
On the women’s side, a total of eight Madisonville runners teamed up to take the Area Championship in the 4x100 M Relay as well as the 4x200 M Relay.
The 4x100 M winners included Mitzi Holiday, Kenndie Moffett, Monique Berry and Garlanesha Gilbert. Raegan Olvera, Berry, Moffett and Gilbert made up the 4x200 M Relay team that finished in the top spot.
Also on the women’s side, Moffett and Gilbert qualified for Regionals for their performances in the 200 M Dash. Moffett also qualified in Triple Jump and Long Jump.
They will be joined by Chloe Olvera (100 M Hurdles), Madi Caperton (1600 M Run) and Sidnie Smith (Pole Vault).
On the men’s side, the 4x200 M Relay and the 4x400 M Relay teams qualified for Regionals. Tyrese Brown, Desmond Walls, Gage Smith and Donovan Young made up the 4x200 Relay squad while the 4x400 comprised of Walls, Young, Marcus Dorman and Garrett Johnson.
Also competing at Regionals will be Roderick Holiday (100 M Dash), Reyshawn Moore (300 M Hurdles), Uriel Willis (Long Jump) and Michael DeBoisblanc (Pole Vault).
The Regional events will take place at Sam Houston State University on Friday and Saturday. Those who qualify for the state meet will convene in Austin on May 10-11.
