NZISD to purchase new computers

The North Zulch ISD school board passed a resolution for the purchase of 30 new computers for their elementary lab during their monthly board meeting for October on Thursday.

The board heard a presentation from technology director Todd Armstrong during last month’s meeting, in which he advocated for purchasing new technology for the lab at affordable prices.

“We have two themes this year,” said Armstrong during the September meeting. “The first is new and improved, and there are some improvements we can make here that do not cost much but will really raise our standards. The second is old and improved. All of the technology that we have will be kept running as we make sure it is efficient for its placement. We need a lot of devices to do the things we want to do in the classroom.”

Armstrong also stated that acquiring this kind of technology at wholesale prices for small school districts is a speciality of his.

The board also passed a resolution to bring in Reihl Engineering as a third party engineer to evaluate their energy efficiency before embarking on a project to upgrade the district’s LED lighting and air conditioning.

“We are looking at an energy efficiency project that basically encompasses LED lighting and an HVAC system that will run both campuses,” said Superintendent Alan Andrus.

The third party inspectors will likely conclude their research before the monthly board meeting for November.

The board also passed a resolution to accept a donation from MD America to fix their damaged marquee. The marquee was struck by lightning over the summer.
