Two local law enforcement officers sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of a two-car collision on Friday night in Madisonville.

According to a Facebook post by the Madisonville Police Department, the collision occurred at 11:30 p.m. on Friday in the 700 block of East Main Street. Judging by the pictures accompanying the post, it appears that a Madison County Sheriff’s Office SUV struck the side of a Madisonville police vehicle.

According to the Madisonville Police Department, they are waiting for a DPS accident report before releasing further information.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy involved in the accident was transported to the hospital following the collision and has since been released. The MPD officer involved was taken to the emergency room to be examined, but did not sustain any injuries.

The Sheriff’s deputy was on his way to assist with a fatal accident that had occurred while the police officer was responding to assist another MPD officer with a separate traffic stop.
