Oscar Ellis “Pete” Aswell was born April 9, 1935 in Wisner, Louisiana to Preston and Ida Mae (Chevallier) Aswell. Pete passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at his residence in Madisonville on June 5, 2020.

Oscar Ellis “Pete” Aswell was born April 9, 1935 in Wisner, Louisiana to Preston and Ida Mae (Chevallier) Aswell. Pete passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at his residence in Madisonville on June 5, 2020.

Pete is preceded in death by eight siblings Leslie, Eugene, Leroy, Myrtle, Hazel, Dorothy, Homer and Jimmie Lee and his parents, Preston and Ida Lee Aswell.

He is survived by son Gerry Aswell, daughter Angela McCathern and husband Michael, daughter Donna Stupka and husband Don, stepson Billy Courtney and wife Melissa. Grandchildren Katy Aswell, Taylor McCathern, Ryan McCathern, Shea Lyn Aswell and Alyssa Lynne Stupka and sister Janet McGaha and husband Joseph, and sister Audrey Lawson. Great grandchildren Rebel Roper, Raelynn Pope, Aiden Tyler Maurice McCathern and Katilyn Hunt.

Pete proudly served in the US Navy and worked as a welding supervisor for many years for Brown and Root. Pete was a world traveler, with his welding experience he was able to travel to numerous countries overseas. He was a resident of Madisonville since 1988. Pete spent his time off hunting, fishing and sitting around the camp fire. He was a family man, he loved being with his children and his grandchildren.
