Tanner Parks has been a top multi-events athlete for the Stephen F. Austin State University men's track and field team.
The Normangee resident finished fifth in the heptathlon at the Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, three spots behind senior teammate Hunter Key. Stephen F. Austin was the only school to place two men in the top five.
The junior finished with a career-best 4,844 points. He was second in the long jump and third in the pole vault.
In an Abilene Christian University meet, Parks had a personal-best 6,330 points to place third in the decathlon. His best efforts were second in the long jump and pole vault and third in the 100-meter run and 110 hurdles.
Cisco College freshman pitcher Christian Springfield allowed one earned run in two-thirds of an inning against Odessa. The Normangee resident walked three.
Logan Young tied for 16th at the Texas Cup, shooting a 150 (73-77). The former Normangee High golfer finished fourth among the scorers for Concordia University Texas.
Madisonville High graduate James Arnold, who competes for Sam Houston State University, and Charly Crawford, placed seventh in the team roping at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show & Rodeo. Arnold ranked 19th in the Texas Circuit team roping heeler standings and earned $2,266.31 as of March 21, according to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Another from Madisonville High, Colby Lovell, and Arnold were second in team roping March 16 at the Rodeo Austin.
Men's roller hockey
Devon Mayer is a forward for the Sam Houston State club team. Out of Madisonville High, he had one assist in 16 games.
