Madisonville local Zachary Rebstock earned third place the weekend after Independence Day at the Texas State Archery Outdoor Championships, missing second place by a single point and first by 12 points.
148 archers from all over Texas and all age groups from children to senior adults came to compete at the event, making it the largest non 4-H competition Rebstock has been a part of yet.
The competition was fierce, some were members of the Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) team with sponsors and shooting bows worth over fifteen hundred dollars. Rebstock has accomplished what he has with his Bowtech Carbon Icon Hunters Bow and will now focus on obtaining sponsorships.
Rebstock then returned to 4-H competition this week beginning on Monday at the Texas 4-H State Games in San Antonio. The event will last until Saturday and include five separate shooting events. The action will conclude with a team relay shoot off on Saturday.
