Ronald Kirkley Richards, Sr., age 75, of Madisonville, Texas was called home on Sunday, May 19, 2019. Ron was born on June 15, 1943, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Following in his family’s tradition of military service, Ron joined the Navy becoming a Hospital Corpsman Third Class with the Fleet Marine Forces.
Ron was a devoted husband, father, and doting grandfather, who enjoyed retired life, working in the yard and being with his grandchildren. Ron was retired from MD Anderson. He volunteered with Scouts, HLSR, 1st EMS and The American Legion. He always said, "it is a way to give back for the many blessings I have been given."
Ron was preceded in death by his father, mother, son Kirk Jr. and adoptive dad Bob Richards.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Delores Mott Richards of Madisonville; Mother-in-Law, Pauline Mott of Houston; brother, Brad Richards of Alvin; son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Amey Richards of Woodstock, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Michaelle and Gene Whitesides of Madisonville; grandchildren Barret and Morgan Whitesides, Noah and Cosette Richards. Several in-laws, nieces, nephews and an abundance of extended family and friends.
Funeral Service held at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home in Friendswood, Texas.
His final resting place will be the Houston National Cemetery.
