Colby Lovell has continued his success in professional rodeo.

The Madisonville High School graduate has been competing in the team roping header event.

The 30-year-old Lovell and Allen Bach placed second in team roping at the Rusk County PRCA Rodeo in Henderson during October. They earned $800, according to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.

He and James Arnold, who attended Madisonville High, won the team roping header at the Dodge City (Kan.) Roundup in August. Each collected $877.

Lovell ranked 23rd in the 2017 Texas Circuit standings for team roping headers. He was 11th in the PRCA World team roping header standings, earning $122,245.15, during 2016, when he finished first in the Texas Circuit standings for that event.

More men's rodeo

Arnold entered the Jan. 15 week first in the 2018 Resistol Rookie standings for team roping heelers, with $1,813.29 in earnings, according to the PRCA. He was first among the 2017 RAM Rodeo Permit standings for team roping heelers, collecting $25,805.62, and was fifth in the Texas Circuit rankings.

He has been competing for Sam Houston State University. Through five events during the fall season, Arnold ranked third among team roping heelers in the Southern Region. He won his event at the Northeast Texas Community College rodeo.
