Sandra Kay (Mills) Dodson, 68, of Madisonville, passed away on Friday; Jan. 26, 2018, in Madisonville. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday; Jan. 29, at First Baptist Church in Madisonville, with the Rev. Joshua Crutchfield officiating. The visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville. A private family burial is scheduled at Mills Cemetery after the service.
Sandra was born Nov. 12, 1949, in Freeport, to Billy and Sarah Frances (Atkins) Mills. She graduated from Brazosport High School in 1968 and worked for many years at Intermedics, Inc. She and her husband Bob moved to Madisonville in 1996 where they have been members of First Baptist Church and she has worked at The Madisonville Elementary School as the art teacher.
Sandra was preceded in death by her dad, Billy Mills; her sister, Karen Mills; and her daughter, Evelyn Elizabeth Amason. Survivors include her husband, Robert (Bob) Dodson; her daughters, Aimee Church (Farrell), Shari Wilson (Johnnie), Micki Taterka (Steve), and Kristi Carter (Brian); her grandchildren, Morgan Taterka, Tyler Taterka, Meghan Carter, Billye Mills Jones, Sara Patterson, Marian Carter, Wade Taterka, Kaleb Reynolds, Avery Church, Ethan Wilson, Kade Reynolds, Ty Wilson, and Rylee Church; great-granddaughter, Brynlee Longoria; her mother, Sarah Frances (Atkins) Mills; her sisters, Barbara Mills Monte and Jerri Mills; and her brother, Scott Mills.
Serving as pallbearers are Wade Taterka, Kaleb Reynolds, Ethan Wilson, Kade Reynolds, Johnnie Parham, and Jeff Dodson. Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Ty Wilson.
