Scott makes his mark at SHSU

Posted

Chris Scott has been getting repetitions for the Sam Houston State University football team.

The Madisonville High School graduate played in three of the first six games and made his first tackle in an Oct. 5 win over Stephen F. Austin State University.

The 6-foot-1 Scott is a reserve defensive tackle listed at 255 pounds, 15 pounds heavier than his 2018 redshirt freshman year. He said he lifted weights more during the summer to gain muscle and strength for the season.

Against Stephen F. Austin, he made a solo stop after a 1-yard rush in the fourth quarter. He said the rush was right up the middle, so he didn't have to chase the runner to make the play.

Scott said he has been learning the advanced blocking moves of college.

"My eyes to the target, my hands to the target and my feet follow," said Scott.
