Sixto Melendez Sr.


Sixto Melendez Sr., 83 of Bedias, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Madisonville. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, July 21, 2018 beginning at 10 a.m. at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville with the rosary scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Burial will be at Jozye Cemetery in Madisonville. The Rev. Mark Kusmirek will be the celebrant.

Sixto was born on Oct. 27, 1934, in Cuidad Anahuac Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Norberto Melendez Martinez Sr. and Hermelinda Melendez Munoz, and was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Matilde Melendez, Raul Melendez, Maria Elena Melendez Garza and her husband Abel Garza, Alfredo Melendez, and Julian Melendez; his son-in-law, Juan Martinez; his brother-in-law, Castro Sanchez; and his sister-in-law, Elda Lopez Melendez.

Sixto is survived by his wife, Maria Martha Munoz Melendez; his daughter, Hermelinda Melendez Martinez, his daughter Sylvia Melendez Rodriguez and her husband Jose Luis Rodriguez, Sr., and his son Sixto Melendez Jr. and his wife Lourdes Bulos Melendez; his grandchildren, Jesus Juan Martinez, Krystal Maria Martinez and her husband Baldomero Nava Gonzalez, Erika Eliza Martinez, Jose Luis Rodriguez Jr. and his wife Marian Cervantes, Luis Miguel Rodriguez, Bernardo Felipe Rodriguez and his wife Yolanda Villar, Joel Angel Rodriguez, Edgar Melendez, Joshua Melendez, and Melanie Melendez; his great-grandchildren, Luis Damian Rodriguez, Monique Laylalie Rodriguez, Analyssa Brianna Rodriguez, Andrea Bree Rodriguez, Arlene Maria Rodriguez, and Jayleen Marie Rodriguez; and his siblings, Esperanza Melendez Sanchez, Norberto Melendez Jr., Maria Elena Melendez Garza and her husband Homero Garza, and Guadalupe Melendez Macias and her husband Juan Macias.

Serving as pallbearers are Jesus Martinez, Jose Rodriguez Jr., Luis Rodriguez, Bernardo Rodriguez, Joel Rodriguez, Edgar Melendez, Joshua Melendez and Luis Damian Rodriguez.
