Soccer falls in Cleveland

The Madisonville Mustangs soccer team dropped a non-district contest on the road in Cleveland on Friday by a score of 3-0.

“I thought we played well and offensively we had our chances to score, but we did not find the back of the net,” said Madisonville Soccer Coach Baltazar Reyes. “Defensively, we made mistakes that could have been prevented and it hurt us. But I think the boys are ready for district play.”

Before Friday’s loss, the Mustangs had won three straight games over Rudder, Hempstead and Splendora. It was the team’s first loss in their non-district slate outside of the Aggieland Classic.

Madisonville will still have four matchups before district play begins against New Waverly at MHS on Feb. 12. They will see road contests in Livingston, Navasota and Sealy as well as a home game against Hearne.

They will travel to Livingston on Friday to battle the Lions at 7 p.m.
