The Madisonville men’s soccer team fell to Livingston Friday by a score of 3-2 and have one non-league matchup remaining on the schedule before the start of district play Feb. 11.

“We did not play well at all in the first half (against Livingston), we made a lot of mistakes” said head coach Baltazar Reyes. “We played much better in the second half but missed out on chances.”

Madisonville goals were scored by Juan Polanco and Vladimir Morales in the loss.

“We have had several players step up and improve each game,” said Reyes.

The junior varsity squad also fell to Livingston by a score of 3-2. Madisonville goals were scored by Chase Couch and Raul Gomez in the loss.

The Mustangs are scheduled to take on Splendora at MHS Friday to conclude their non-district slate.

“To prepare for district play, we need to perform to the best of our abilities and not make mistakes,” said Reyes.

The team will begin district play Feb. 11 in New Waverly at 7:15 p.m. Their first district matchup at MHS will come Feb. 14 against Westwood.

Other district opponents include Mexia, Crockett and Palestine.
