Multiple Mustang soccer players earned postseason district awards soon after their run to the state semifinals in Georgetown.
“The boys and I feel very grateful for everything we’ve received,” said Madisonville soccer coach Baltazar Reyes. “These players tried their best this season and really gave it their all. It’s good to see it paying off.”
David Parras was named the district’s most valuable player for his efforts throughout the season while Mauricio Aceves earned offensive MVP. The defensive MVP award was given to Josue Hernandez.
The Mustangs selected to first team all-district were Guillermo Rosas, Alan Torres, Noe Rodriguez, Dixon Veliz and Luis Aceves. Daniel Hernandez, Jesus Martinez, Bayron Veliz. Diego Guevera and Jose Ibarra earned second team honors. Jard Solis was also named as an honorable mention.
Coach Reyes was also awarded for his efforts and named the coach of the year in the district. As for postseason action, Parras and Guevera were both selected to the UIL soccer state all-tournament team by the Texas association of soccer coaches.
The district champions were selected for the awards by their opponents and no coach could cast votes for their own players. This was just the third season in existence for the Madisonville soccer program.
