The Madisonville Mustangs tennis team dropped a district matchup to Groesbeck, their second district contest of the fall season, at MHS on Thursday. The loss comes after the Mustangs were victorious over Palestine in their first district contest on Aug. 29.

Tennis 1-1 in district play

The Madisonville Mustangs tennis team dropped a district matchup to Groesbeck, their second district contest of the fall season, at MHS on Thursday. The loss comes after the Mustangs were victorious over Palestine in their first district contest on Aug. 29.

Madisonville’s match wins came from the men’s doubles duo of Lazaro Almaraz and Peyton Rose, men’s singles competitors Mason Railsback, Damion Phillips and Rose. On the women’s side, Zoie Stewart earned a match win in singles. Caymen Forrest and Stewart prevailed in mixed doubles.

The mixed doubles duo of Nathan Fleck and Emily Goodwin picked up a win in an extra match that did not go towards the overall team score. Almaraz also won an extra match in men’s singles.

The Madisonville tennis team will look to rebound with another district matchup against Mexia at MHS on Thursday.
