The Madisonville tennis team defeated Hudson in a Bi-District matchup on Oct. 15 as well as Robinson on Saturday in the Area playoffs to advance to the third round of the postseason. The Mustangs took on China Springs in the Regional Quarterfinals on Tuesday at Groesbeck High School.

“On top of a last-minute date change, our players masterfully juggled their many extracurriculars,” said Coach Catherine Sedlacek after the team’s Bi-District win last week. “They endured a three-hour rain delay and still managed to finish strong with the win. Please congratulate these players for their hard work and dedication.”

In the 10-7 team win over Hudson in the Bi-District round, Madisonville saw victories from Mason Railsback and Cesar Rosas along with Lazaro Almaraz and Peyton Rose in the men’s doubles category. The duos of Ashlyn Hahn and Ashely Saucedo, Brooke Huff and Fabiola Vera and Elizabeth Guevara and Evie Rickard were also winners on the women’s side.

Mustangs victorious in the singles category included Almaraz, Rose, Saucedo, Guevara and Garrett Underwood.

Madisonville then defeated Robinson 10-9 at Groesbeck on Saturday to advance to the Regional Quarterfinals.

The duos of Railsback and Rosas, Almaraz and Rose and Huff and Vera prevailed again against Robinson. Railsback, Underwood, Almaraz, Rose, Rickard, Huff and Vera all prevailed in singles play.
