Tennis falls to Palestine

Last week, the Madisonville tennis team dropped their first district match of the fall season to Palestine by a count of 10 games to five. The match came after the Mustangs changed their first scheduled home contest for Oct. 11.

“We did not start our matches as confident as we could have and lost three very close games in tie-breakers due to this,” said Madisonville tennis Coach Catherine Sedlacek. “This is an extremely frustrating feeling, but I feel like this is motivating the team to push harder in preparing for the rest of our district matches.”

The Mustang wins in Palestine came from the Women’s Doubles duo of Sarah Binch and Ashlyn Hahn and Singles Ashley Saucedo, Kennedy Bryant, Jake Risinger, Binch and Evie Rickard.

The Madisonville tennis team will look to rebound in district against Rusk on Thursday with a 3 p.m. start time. Their first home match of the season will come against Mexia on Sept. 20.
