Tennis shines in district

The Madisonville junior varsity district tennis meet took place at MHS last Tuesday and both Mustang squads came away victorious.

Both JV teams took first place in a doubles category. J.J. Valdez and Lazaro Almaraz prevailed in men’s doubles while Maegan Anderson and Jenna Yaeger topped the women’s side. The duo of Johnna Carrol and Brylee Disanto placed third in women’s doubles.

Evie Rickard also took a top spot for her performance in women’s singles while Zoie Stewart, Jicel Torres and Emily Goodwin earned second, third and fourth, respectively.

Damion Phillips and Serena Powers earned the top spot in the mixed doubles categories to cap off four first place finishes for the Mustangs. In men’s singles, Jace Snook took second place while Peyton Rose took third.

The Madisonville varsity tennis team hosted their district tournament on Monday and Tuesday at MHS. On Thursday, they competed in their final regular season competition in Groesbeck.

Ashlyn Hahn earned fourth place in women’s singles at Groesbeck while the duo of Kennedy Bryant and Harper Wiseman took fourth in doubles.

Carson Fraley and Caymen Forrest placed sixth in men’s doubles while Brooke Huff and Brett Snook were sixth in mixed doubles. Both duos were Consolation Finalists.

The varsity team concluded their district meet at MHS on Tuesday.
