Tennis takes second in district

Despite falling to Mexia by a score of 10-8 in their regular season finale last week, the Madisonville tennis team finished second overall in district for the fall season.

The match winners from the men’s doubles side were the duos of Carson Fraley and Cesar Rosas along with Caymen Forrest and Peyton Rose. For women’s doubles, the pairing of Kennedy Bryant and Harper Wiseman also came away victorious.

Michael de Boisblanc came away with a win during men’s singles play along with Harper Wiseman, Ashely Saucedo, Kennedy Bryant and Brooke Huff for the women’s. In extra matches, Mustangs Evie Rickard, Jordan Davis, Peyton Rose and Dylan Honea all came away with wins.

The Mustangs were able to hold on to second place thanks to a victory over Mexia earlier in the season.

Madisonville began their postseason on Tuesday when they traveled Jacksonville High School to battle Carthage in the Bi-District round. If victorious, Madisonville would advance to face China Springs at Franklin in the Area round.
