Two arrested in sexual assault case

Two Madisonville residents were arrested early June 26 following an investigation into charges the duo sexually assaulted an 8-year-old victim.

Felicia Broussard Mulkey, 33, and Joseph Demetrius Farris, 39, each face charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, and manufacture of child pornography, a third-degree felony.

District Attorney Brian Risinger said the case began two weeks ago after Texas Rangers were provided information from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.

Reports indicate there are digital images of alleged sex acts which the Leon County authorities provided to investigators.

The two suspects told investigators they had performed sex acts with the victim, as well as took videos, the records state.

Risinger said the case will go to grand jury at the earliest opportunity, unless a defense attorney seeks to have other hearings. The next grand jury should be empaneled around July 16.

First-degree felonies are punishable by five years to life in prison and fines of up to $10,000. Third-degree felonies are punishable by two to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $10,000.

As of last week, the two were being held at Madison County Jail on bonds of $250,000.
