Two North Zulch Independent School District (NZISD) board members stepped down from their positions last week, opening two vacancies that will be filled temporarily in time for the December meeting.

The two board members to step down were Mike Crocker and Michael Crocker (no relation).

“They are resigning their positions as of now and we are just starting to look for new board members to replace them with,” said Superintendent Alan Andrus. “The board will reappoint two members in December at the next meeting.”

The two interim board members will serve in their positions until the spots are up for reelection in November of 2020.

The board also approved an action item to enter an energy professional services contract with Way Service, Ltd. This is the next step in the district’s energy improvement project, which includes upgrades to LED lighting, air conditioning and a management system that covers both campuses.

“We are really excited about these energy savings,” said Andrus. “I think it will be really good for the district and we will be upgrading some security things, as well. It is obviously exciting for us as we step forward in this direction.”

The board approved a budget amendment for the purpose of financing the energy project as well as an item expressing intent to reimburse certain expenditures relating to the improvements.

The board also nominated board member Tammy Gilbert to serve another term at the Madison County Appraisal District.
