Volleyball playoffs have arrived

It is that time again: volleyball playoff season is here. The fighting Lady Bulldogs will enter the regional tournament starting Friday, Nov. 9.

Varsity football will travel to Bartlett for the last regular season game on Nov. 9.

•On Dec. 10 from 3-9 p.m., The Rockin’ Chair, Main Street Market and Rubye Jewels will host Iola Town and Country Christmas Market. This is a great opportunity to shop local for all your Christmas shopping needs. Please come enjoy shopping, fellowship and fun. There will be many local vendors, hot chocolate, a local food truck, and musicians playing your favorite Christmas music.

Iola 4-H club will host a fill the boxes benefit, a food drive benefiting the Iola Food Pantry. The holiday food drive will have boxes out through Nov. 10 in stores all around town, including Mallets BBQ, Standley’s Feed, The Rockin’ Chair, The Steamery Inc., Bootleggerz and Iola Missionary Baptist Church. This food drive is for nonperishable food items, such as stuffing and cornbread mixes, canned green beans, canned corn and canned sweet potatoes, along with cake mixes. Any nonperishable food items will also be happily accepted. This is a wonderful opportunity to help the local community and Iola 4-H Club.

•Iola National Honor Society will have its third annual Veterans Day Breakfast. The National Honor Society invites all veterans and residents to join them in honoring our nation’s heroes. This will be on Nov. 12 in the cafeteria of Iola High School. Please arrive between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m. To RSVP notify Sofi Teston at steston@iolaisd.net.

•The Scholastic Online Book Fair is from Nov. 5-16. You can also visit the elementary library from Nov. 12-16 to view and purchase items. This is a great way to support our school library and to encourage your children’s love of reading. The book fair is something that the kids to attend and their faces really light up upon finding the book that is perfect and just for them.

•The Thanksgiving holiday will be from Nov. 17 through Nov. 25.
