Weather foils track meet, egg hunt

The annual Easter egg hunt at the Iola community center was canceled this last weekend due to adverse weather. You can follow the Iola community center Facebook page for the latest updates.

The track meet that was scheduled for April 13th in Anderson has been rescheduled for May 4th due to weather.

There will be no school on Friday, April 19th or on Monday April 22nd.

Kindergarten, Pre-k, and new student registration will be May 29th. Pre-k registration is for children who are turning 4 on or before September 1, 2019 and meet one of the following criteria. Child is from a low-income household, homeless or foster care, parent is a member of the military, Star of Texas Award recipient, or is unable to understand or speak English well. For kindergarten, the child must be 5 on or before September 1, 2019. The new student registration is for students who have never registered in Iola School District. This event will take place at the Iola elementary school computer lab, located near the old gym and playground. Registration will be May, 29th at 9am-1230pm for Pre-k and kindergarten, and 1pm-3pm for new students. You will need to bring all of the following in order to register. Birth certificate, Immunization record, Social Security card, parent/guardian driver’s license, proof of address (Pre-k must live in district), and proof of income (Pre-k only).

The Grimes County Horse show will be May 29th through May 31st, starting at 7pm each evening at the Grimes County fairgrounds. The whole community is invited to come out and support our youth.
