The Madisonville track program hosted the Mustang Relays at MHS Thursday and Friday, earning top team finishes from the women’s squad and runner-up finishes from both junior varsity teams.

On the women’s varsity side, Madi Caperton earned a top finish with a time of 13:24 in the 3200m Run Thursday. The senior is back in 2020 looking to continue her storied career after three straight appearances at Regionals.

“My goal right now is to just do the best that I can at Regionals and hopefully make it to State,” said Caperton after her performance Thursday. “Our whole team has a goal of making State and winning. (Coach Brad Taylor) is helping us become more disciplined and work harder at everything we do.”

Madisonville’s women’s squad also saw top finishes in the 400m Relay (Roy’Kia Moffett, Raegan Olvera, Farrah Moffett and Kristen Tolliver; 49.34), the 1600m Relay (Daiona Johnson, Roy’Kia Moffett, Olvera and Tolliver; 4:16.08) and the 800m Relay (Roy’Kia Moffett, Farrah Moffett, Olvera and Tolliver; 1:44.45).

In the 100m Dash, Monique Berry took second place (12.95) and was immediately followed by Jyah Burns (12.96) in third.

Caperton earned second place in the 1600m Run (5:55.69), narrowly edging out Zoee Newton (5:55.70), who snagged third.

Burns and Berry each finished second and third in the 200m Dash with times of 27.03 and 27.76, respectively.

The women’s team totaled 123 points in all events, claiming the event’s championship as the host school.

On the varsity men’s side, the Mustangs placed third with 68 total points Thursday. The group of Nathan Chappell, Rayce Hudson, Matthew De Boisblanc and Trevor Thompson took first place in the 1600m Relay for a time of 3:39.78.

Both Madisonville junior varsity squads earned second place finishes at MHS.

The seventh grade boys finished action in second place Friday with 137 total points while the girls team finished third with 89.

The eighth grade boys were second with 151 points while the girls finished third with 124 points.
