The Mustangs football teams have concluded their 2023 season; three players, Philip Green Jr, Lorenzo Johnson Jr, and Ty Williams, share their thoughts on the past season and reviews on the future. Entering his senior year, Philip Green Jr, running back, expressed optimism about the upcoming 2024 season.

The Madisonville Mustangs are celebrating a fantastic season ending with a significant presence on the All-District 11 AAAA Football Team. These players listed have earned their spots through their performances and contributions to the Mustang’s success in the 2023 season.

The Lady Mustangs basketball team has had an impressive showcase of skill and determination; they have made a solid start for the early season, securing victories in recent matchups. On Thursday, Nov.16, at the Crockett Tournament, playing against Livingston Lions, the team dominated on the court, securing a win with a score of 42-7.

The annual North Zulch Basketball Tournament is scheduled from Thursday, Nov. 30 to Saturday, Dec. 2, which is well known for its hospitality room.

In June of 2022, I shared a Musings entitled “A Sad Story” and told about the murder of Carl Harper, along with facts about his wife, their family, and their home. Recently I found more information about their children that I felt worth sharing.

As time runs out next week on the fourth special session, Gov. Greg Abbott said he will continue to fight for school choice, despite the Texas House once again decisively rejecting it when 21 Republicans largely from rural districts joined Democrats in stripping it from a $7.6 billion education bill. The Austin American-Statesman reported it is unclear what Abbott’s next move will be.
