In May, the 20th Texas Silver-Haired Legislature will meet in Austin to discuss and debate proposed Resolutions aimed at addressing issues unique to older Texans - and by extension all citizens. For instance, younger citizens may have older family members financially exploited because of their age or have concerns about staffing ratios in Alzheimer’s facilities where family members reside.

The team, consisting of 10 students and four coaches, participated in various events, including Prose, Poetry, Number Sense, Ready Writing, and Lincoln Douglas Debate.

The North Zulch FFA chapter has seen remarkable success this year, with multiple students participating in various events and competitions. From leadership contests to livestock shows, these young individuals have demonstrated their knowledge, skills, and personal growth throughout their school years.

On Wednesday, April 15, a ceremony was held at the Madison County Courthouse to honor the 31 children who were abused in the county this past year. The event was organized by Scotty’s House, a non-profit child advocacy center in the Brazos Valley; the event was held to raise awareness about child abuse and to recognize the resilience of young survivors.

The Madisonville Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees held its meeting on Monday, April 8. During the meeting, Joeli Hardy presented additional information about her Madison County Hay Relief project.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office recently made two drug-related arrests from traffic stops, according to press releases from the MCSO. On Thursday, March 28, deputies conducted a traffic stop at the Commerce and Main Streets intersection in Madisonville.

The following persons were arrested or booked into the Madison County jail on Sunday, March 31 through Sunday, April 7. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
