1941-2024

Billy Austin Andrews was born to Milton “Mit” and Marie Andrews in Bryan, Texas. He first saw the light of day on January 1, 1941 and was called home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2024 where he now lives in the purest light of all.

A funeral service for Billy was held 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in North Zulch, Texas. Pastor Matt Murray officiated the service. Interment followed in Willowhole Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Billy Andrews, Gayland Andrews, Alan Moritz, John Moritz, Gabe Moritz, Owen Cox.

Honorary Pallbearer was Billy Simmons.

The “Fruit of the Spirit” includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control and all of these were easily observed in Billy’s life in ways that were observable and measurable.

He constantly exercised great patience with others, and kindness was something he expressed with ease. Billy was always available to his friends and family and he was very generous in doing what he could to meet the needs of all those around him.

Billy wore the hats of husband, father, grandfather and friend with integrity and compassion.

His life can be wrapped up in two words, “servant” and “sacrifice.” He loved his church where he served as deacon. He possessed a strong work ethic and set an example worth following. It was clearly evident that Billy trusted in the Lord with all his heart and was definitely an instrument of God’s righteousness used by the Lord to reach into the lives of many.

Billy proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and Texas National Guard. He was also a member of the North Zulch Masonic Lodge #593.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Milton “Mit” and Marie Andrews and his brother, John Milton Andrews.

Left to cherish Billy’s memory are his wife of fifty-three glorious years, Rita Gale (Dore’) Andrews of North Zulch, Texas; two sons, Billy Ray Andrews (Jenny) of Houston, Texas, and Gayland Andrews (Amanda) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and daughter Leah Moritz (Alan) of Denham Springs, Louisiana. He is also survived by his sister, Ella Louise Andrews of Bryan, Texas; four grandchildren, John Moritz, Gabe Moritz, Owen Cox, and Emma Mayer; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends.

Funeral arrangements were under the care and guidance of Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas.
