Funeral services for Fred Hodges, 63, of Madisonville, were held 11 a.m., Friday, May 21, 2021 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Rev. William Potts officiated the service and interment followed in Madisonville Cemetery.

Fred Austin Hodges, Jr. was born June 7, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas to Fred Hodges, Sr. & Nellie (Morgan) Hodges Davey. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for six years and was on the U.S.S Henry Clay Submarine. Fred worked for Monterey Mushrooms for a short time, then worked as a prison guard for T.D.C.J. for twenty-three years.

Fred was the most avid Dallas Cowboys fan there ever was. He enjoyed working on computers and doing mechanic work, as well as teaching others mechanics. He was also very knowledgeable about history and enjoyed studying history. Fred especially liked to crack jokes, even if they were only one-liners.

Fred passed away at his home May 17, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Ann Hodges. Surviving family members include wife, Patricia Anne Hodges of Madisonville; daughter, Melissa Hodges & fiancé, Justin Baack of Huntsville; son, Steven Hodges & wife, Christina Wilhelm-Hodges of Madisonville; brother, Donald Davey; sisters, Sandra Reno of Spring and Mary Davey of College Station and grandchildren, Ryan Shoup, Rebecca Lara, Codey Wilhelm and Justin Martin.

Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas was entrusted with final arrangements.
