1955 – 2024

Jerry Earl Goodson was born July 17, 1955 in Huntsville, Texas to James H. and Katherine (Bland) Goodson. He passed away on Jan. 15, 2024 at the age of sixty-eight. Jerry lived in the Spring and Tomball areas during his younger years and later moved to Normangee, Texas where he lived until his death.

Jerry attended St Matthew’s Lutheran School and graduated from Spring High School, Class of 1973. He worked in construction but later attended school to become a draftsman. Jerry worked as a draftsman for Baker Hughes Tool Company in Houston for many years until he moved to Normangee. He worked for a home builder for several years until a head injury rendered him unable to work.

Jerry was an artist, and throughout his life drew and painted beautiful western art. He also enjoyed woodwork and leather work. Up until more recent years, he always had some kind of wood or leather project going. Anyone who saw him work was impressed at his slow and meticulous attention to details. Jerry faithfully read his bible every day, loved watching RFD T V and spending time on his front porch with his dog, Sandy nearby.

Friends described Jerry as gentle and kind. Due to his health issues, Jerry had more trials than most but never wavered in his faith and trust in God, and always expressed how grateful he was for everything he had. As a tall guy, he was pretty easy to spot in a crowd, but even more so because of his distinctive style cowboy hat.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his brothers, Rusty Goodson and wife, Robbie, and Eric Goodson and wife, Jeana; and sister, Angela Turner and husband, John. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews and their families, Jamie Goodson, Rachel Johnson, Jacob Turner, Ben Turner and Matt Goodson; along with the rest of his family and friends.

A funeral service for Jerry was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, North Zulch, Texas. Interment followed in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.
