Jimmy Dillon Anderson, 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Oct. 17, 2023 in Madisonville, Texas after a brief battle with cancer. Jimmy was born on Feb. 12, 1938 in Sealy, Texas to Virginia and Jimmy Earl Anderson.

Jimmy attended high school in Gladewater, Texas where he met his lifelong love and wife of nearly sixty-five years, Joan. They were married on June 20, 1958. Jimmy had some roots in Madisonville, and moved their small family there in 1962, where he raised his children, Bobby, Kathy and Jimmy Dee. Jimmy spent the rest of his life in Madisonville where he had many friends and was a regular with the “feed store” gang. He loved to spend time at the lake, Saturday night domino games with friends, deer hunting and fishing with his kids, and attending all the various sports events his children were participating in.

Jimmy had a long career at TxDOT and retired in his early 50’s to enjoy tending to his cattle and his beloved Navasota River bottom. He and Joan loved spending time at the camp and fishing. He spent a good portion of the later years of his life-giving care to Joan who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. As a father and husband, Jimmy was a model of hard work, honesty and integrity.

A funeral service for Jimmy was held 12 p.m., Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville. Bro. Beau Beavers officiated the service. Interment followed at McAdams Cemetery.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Anderson; both parents; and great-grandson, Bennett Gatlin.

He is survived by sons, Bobby Anderson (Stephanie) and Jimmy Dee Anderson (Memory); daughter, Kathy Lewis (Robert); grandchildren, Dana Lewis Gatlin (Brandon), Dane Lewis (Jessica), Jacob Anderson (Cristina), Cody Anderson, Dillon Anderson, and Jarod Anderson; and great-grandsons, Haden Zacharias, Gavin Lewis, Naythan Lewis and Lucas Anderson.

Pallbearers were Jacob Anderson, Cody Anderson, Dillon Anderson, Jarod Anderson, Dane Lewis and Haden Zacharias.

Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas was entrusted with arrangements.
