John Michael Martin was born January 14, 1964 at 2:24 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas to Julius and Kay Martin.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Julius E. Martin; his brother, Jim Craig Martin; his maternal grandparents, Ruth and P.C. Wylie; and his paternal grandparents, Arthur and Mary Martin. He is survived by his mother, Kay Martin of George, Texas; his daughter Brittany Martin of George, Texas; his daughter, Ashley Martin of Claremont, California; his granddaughter, Alani Halliwell of Claremont, California; his aunt, Betty Moran of Dallas, Texas; and many cousins and friends.

Mike grew up in Houston at the family ranch in George, Texas. He loved the country ranch. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, his four-wheeler and his horses. He attended schools in Houston. He met Cindy Beckwith in Houston and, after they married, they moved to Normangee, Texas and started a family. He worked with his dad Julius in the hay business.

Mike was baptized on November 13, 2005 by Brother Will Odom of Normangee Church of Christ. He lived in Abilene, Texas the last 15 years of his life.

Mike tested positive for COVID-19 on his birthday, January 14, and was hospitalized two weeks later. He spent the next 51 days in the hospital.
