Mary Lee Evans, age 62, of Normangee, Texas fell asleep in the arms of Jesus Jan. 8, 2024 in Bryan, Texas.

She was born to B.J. Hall & Zelma (Johnson) Hall on Dec. 27, 1961 in Madisonville, Texas. Mary was baptized at an early age at Zion Baptist Church in Normangee, Texas and remained a lifelong member. She was very close to her grandmother, Arneal Young, after the untimely passing of her own mother.

Mary had attended Nursing School at El Centro College in Dallas, Texas and had most recently worked in the Cafeteria for ILT Schools. Aside from living in Dallas for a brief period, Mary was a lifetime resident of Normangee.

Mary was preceded in death by both of her parents; grandmother, Arneal Young; infant daughter, Camilla Evans and brother, Elmer Hall.

Those left to cherish Mary’s memory are ex-husband, William Evans, Sr.; children, Arnessa (Darrell) Edwards, Anetra (Keifer) Evans, William Evans, Jr. and Darius (Hailey) Evans; brothers, McKinney Hall and Jimmy (Monisha) Hall; sisters, Gwendolyn Diggles and Beverly May Medlock; and grandchildren, Alexis Manahan, Devin Edwards, Darren Edwards, Anfernee Evans, Akeelah Evans and Kayson Evans, as well as special “furbabies,” Bluee, Bonnie, Shadow, Dank, and King.

A memorial homegoing service for Mary was held noon Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Zion Baptist Church, Normangee, Texas. Pastor Jimmy Butler gave the eulogy and Pastor Victor Brooks officiated the service.

Honorary Pallbearers were McKinney Hall, William Evans, Sr., William Evans, Jr., Steven Baldwin, Anfernee Evans, Darren Edwards, Devin Edwards, Jimmy Hall, Keifer Wheaton, Darrell Edwards Arrangements were entrusted to Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
