Norman Risinger, a lifelong resident of Madisonville, passed away peacefully the evening of March 10, 2021 at the age of eighty years.

Norman was born May 19, 1940 in Madisonville, Texas to parents, Carl & Era (Colwell) Risinger. He owned and operated Madisonville Printing Company for many years and had previously worked for the Madisonville Meteor. Norman was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Madisonville.

Reading and hunting were two of Norman’s favorite ways to pass the time. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and dearly cared for his five grandchildren. Norman was active in many civic organizations throughout the years and was a staunch supporter of Madison County. He was an active member of the Madison County Chamber of Commerce for many years and supported the youth of Madison County by purchasing many projects in the Madison County Fair Association. He was also an active member of the Madisonville Sidewalk Cattleman’s Association. In his younger years he was actively involved in the Young Farmers Association and was elected a State Vice-President.

Those preceding Norman in death are both of his parents; beloved wife, Thelma Risinger; brothers, Garvice & Britton Risinger and sisters, Oleta Risinger and Maudine Haag.

Surviving family members include sons, Norman Risinger, Jr. of Austin and Brian (Suzanne) Risinger of Madisonville, as well as grandchildren, Jake, Eli, Jared, Joshua and Avery Risinger.

Funeral services honoring Norman took place 3 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Madisonville, Texas. Brad Brock officiated the service. Warren and Wendy Hunt of First Baptist Church provided the musical worship during the service. Norman was laid to rest in the Madisonville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the Risinger family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Norman and Thelma Risinger Scholarship Fund. Checks may be made payable to Madisonville CISD (with Norman & Thelma Risinger Scholarship on the “for” line) and mailed to Madisonville CISD, Attn: Annette Andrews, P.O. Box 879, Madisonville, Texas 77864
