Lady Dogs battle through district

The North Zulch volleyball team has battled through one of the toughest 2A districts in the state as a young, 1A squad as they attempt to ready themselves for the 1A playoffs, which they will automatically qualify for.

Lady Stangs open district hot

The Madisonville volleyball team split a pair of district matchups over the week with a thrilling road win over LaVega Sept. 28 and a home loss to Robinson Friday. The Lady Mustangs began district play with a 2-1 record entering Tuesday’s road matchup in China Spring.

MUSTANG TENNIS SHINES

After losing its opening match to China Spring Monday, the Madisonville fall tennis team came back and defeated Robinson by a match score of 10-9. Eli Risinger won the three-set tiebreaker to clinch the victory. The team will compete against Hudson High School Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Hudson Tennis Complex.

Stangs look for consistency on offense

Madisonville’s offense struck gold twice in the second quarter of Friday’s 24-14 loss in Livingston with a pair of explosive touchdowns to build an early lead, but struggled to convert on their chances as the game progressed into the second half.

MCSO locates missing person

On Saturday, April 27 around 7:46 a.m., Lela Jett Ivey’s family called into the Madison County Sheriff’s Office filing a missing persons order for the 83-year-old woman. After using a statewide system, MCSO got an approximate location of the red 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck that she was said to be in.

Powerful storms battered Madison County over the past week, dumping over 10 inches of rain in some areas. The heavy rainfall washed out roads, caused severe flooding, and forced school closures throughout the week, only reopening on Monday, May 6.
