Madisonville’s defense kept Diboll off the scoreboard in the first and fourth quarters of Friday’s season opener to help the team cruise to a 31-point victory at home to start the season. Outside of a couple big plays, the Lumber jacks struggled to find a consistent rhythm and keep up on the offensive side of the ball.

The Madisonville volleyball team competed in two standalone matchups against Caldwell Aug. 24 and Teague Friday and reached the championship of the silver bracket in a tournament in Anderson over the weekend.

The North Zulch volleyball team competed in a tournament in Fayetteville Thursday and Saturday. The results are as follows: Thurs.: Sacred Heart (L; 19-25, 16-25); Fayetteville (L; 19-25, 13-25); Weiler JV (W; 25-17, 27-25) Sat.: Legacy (L; 18-25, 19-25); Manor New Tech (L; 21-25, 23-25, 10-25).
