Madison County honors child abuse victims

On Wednesday, April 15, a ceremony was held at the Madison County Courthouse to honor the 31 children who were abused in the county this past year. The event was organized by Scotty’s House, a non-profit child advocacy center in the Brazos Valley; the event was held to raise awareness about child abuse and to recognize the resilience of young survivors.

Commissioners Court tackles various issues

The Madison County Commissioners Court met Tuesday, April 9, to address a range of topics, including infrastructure projects, law enforcement updates, and community initiatives. During the meeting, the court approved various bills in the collections report, while Sheriff Bobby Adams gave his update regarding 369 calls in March, along with 15 arrests and 45 individuals handled in the jail.

The following persons were arrested or booked into the Madison County jail on Sunday, March 31 through Sunday, April 7. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

In their monthly meeting on Monday, April 1, the Bedias Creek Soil & Water Conservation District #428 discussed matters ranging from conservation initiatives to the change in the board of directors. Vice-Chairman Karen Hadaway’s departure from the board due to the sale of her property led to interviews with potential replacements pending the state rules.
